Contracts for HIPPS on North Sea Installation

SELLA CONTROLS is pleased to announce the contract award for a High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS) to reduce the risk of overpressure on an installation in the North Sea. The HIPPS is based on the HIMA HIQuad Safety PES product.

SELLA CONTROLS have been providing HIPPS solutions for over 30 years and have supplied 10 HIPPS projects in the last 12 months. These systems provide over pressure protection in a variety of applications including onshore gas terminals, pipelines and separators on offshore installations.

SELLA CONTROLS offer a turnkey solution including supply of field transmitters, manifolds, logic solver and valves. In addition, we can provide consultancy services and support across the full lifecycle including HIPPS Dossiers & SRS development and facilitation of third party certification.

SELLA to provide a SCCS for TAQA in the UK North Sea

SELLA CONTROLS is pleased to announce the contract award to provide a safety critical communication solution for TAQA in the UK North Sea

Stockport, United Kingdom – Functional Safety Systems integration specialist SELLA CONTROLS is pleased to announce the contract award to supply a new offshore safety critical ESD inter-trip communication system for an offshore application. The SIL 3 compliant system solution utilises the black channel safety critical communications approach detailed in BS EN 61508. The system will be used to transmit critical emergency shutdown signals between the TAQA operated North Cormorant Platform and the Eider platforms. The system, that will also include diverse communication paths to increase availability and reduce the likelihood of spurious trips, is based on the HIMA HIMatrix Programmable Electronic System.

Award from Bombardier Transportation

SELLA CONTROLS is pleased to announce the contract award from Bombardier Transportation for the supply of Tracklink III equipment for the London Overground Rolling Stock

Systems integration specialist SELLA CONTROLS is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a contract from Bombardier Transportation for the supply of 59 off Tracklink III readers and software development of a new SIL2 protocol interface along with SIL2 software development for the function of AC/DC auto-changeover. In addition to this functionality the Tracklink III readers will also be used for Selective Door Opening (SDO) and Correct Side Door Enabling (CSDE).

The equipment will be fitted to 45 x 4 car Class 710 EMU trains (also known as LOTRAIN) and will be operational on the London Overground network. The trains will be delivered in two sub-classes; an AC only version for use on the West Anglia and Romford-Upminster services, and a dual-voltage version for the Watford DC and GOBLIN services. The dual voltage version will be fitted with 2 off Tracklink III readers to carry out the functionality of SDO, CSDE and AC/DC auto-changeover.

The AC/DC auto-changeover function is used to raise/lower pantographs and raise/lower shoe gear as the train goes from an AC traction area to a DC traction area and vice versa.

University of Manchester’s Embedded Systems Buggy Race 2017

SELLA CONTROLS were proud to sponsor the University of Manchester’s 2017 Embedded Systems buggy race on Friday 5th May, which the Stockport Sales Office attended.

The race day is the culmination of a second year project during which the students work in a team to produce a robot design that will follow a white line and negotiate obstacles on a tough course – in the fastest time possible. Congratulations to the winning team and to all the students who took part, we were very impressed with their innovation, hard work, enthusiasm and the organisers for making a truly impressive circuit.

We will be meeting the winning team (pictured below) later in the year during the Inst MC Dinner to award their prizes and certificates.

SELLA CONTROLS to become EKE-Electronics’ distributor in the UK and Ireland

Railtex, NEC, Birmingham, United Kingdom – SELLA CONTROLS, the new name of Hima-Sella (effective 1st June 2017), has been appointed as a distributor for Finland-based EKE-Electronics.

Under an agreement signed at Railtex 2017, and which comes into effect on 1st June 2017, SELLA CONTROLS will sell and provide engineering services and support for EKE-Electronics’ range of products in the UK and Ireland (Northern and Eire). EKE’s products include Train Management Systems, Train Communication Network Gateways and Passenger Information Systems.

The agreement allows SELLA CONTROLS to offer EKE’s proven Trainnet® GPS-based Automatic Selective Door Opening (ASDO) system in conjunction with its own successful beacon-based Tracklink III® system in the UK rail market. In addition, the agreement allows for EKE-Electronics to market SELLA CONTROLS’ Tracklink® products and engineering services in its worldwide markets.
